Well, If He's Going to Join the Army, Then It's Okay

Newsday reports in "No Jail for Online Dating Hacker" that a former police officer, who broke into his ex-girlfriend's online dating account and set up dates without her consent, so that strangers came to her home expecting sexual favors, shouldn't have to serve jail time because he "intended to join the military." Among the 197 counts he was charged with were accusations of criminal "stalking, computer tampering, and harassment."

Comments

this story reminds one of an absurd scenario in the book "Catch 22" when someone that is contracting to the US. army begins to also do the same for the enemy. When someone notices that the US. bases are being bombed by "friends" the argument given is since we all share in the profits it makes sense. Of course it doesn't. This does not seem to either. Thanks, Liz, for showing us yet another use of absurd logic. Or maybe it's just a case of having good friends in high places.
