this kind of occurance is not only damaging to the people of the gulf, but it is just the kind of thing that terrorist recruiters can point to that validate their claims that the u.s. is corrupt. shame on us...

This is what the local power structure wanted; a safer, whiter, more affluent New Orleans. Rita was the answer to all of NO's problems. Most of those renters from New Orleans are now renters in Houston and Dallas. Why would they want them back?
One hundred eighty million federal dollars were spent repairing the Superdome so the Saints could play for the local caciques, their cronies and clients? All the while, eighty percent of the city is in a shambles. Talk about priorities.
