More Disappearing Acts
It's official. There are now TWENTY TIMES as many mentions of the phrase "activist judges" as there are references to the word "gay" on the White House website. It's a word that the President will almost never utter, despite his homophobic campaign for the Marriage Protection Amendment in which thwarting the pursuit of happiness of a significant portion of the citizenry is the obvious aim. If you are a news reporter, just try to get the President to say "homosexual," "gay," or "lesbian," when you formulate your questions; he won't do it. Of course, some of the "gays" on the White House site refer to conservative nominees like Gay Hart Gaines and Patricia Gay Mathes Burnett and to the dispositions of prominent First Ladies in the historical past, so the actual number is even smaller.

Why can't we relegate marriage to the spiritual and religious sphere where it properly belongs?
A better approach to the whole "gay marriage"- "activist judge" issue would be a campaign to abolish legal marriage. Why do some feel the need to involve the state in marriage in the first place? Who really needs it? The very rich, who co-habitate, draw up contracts dividing property beforehand; and for the propertyless marriage doesn't matter anyway. With regard to children, biological and adopted, there's plenty of law out there to protect them.
