The UK Comes to its senses
MPs voted on Tuesday by a margin of 200 votes to impose a ban on smoking in all enclosed public spaces, despite months of wrangling over the issue.
Sure, the cops will still gun down an occasional innocent Brazillian guy. And the electoral system is still rigged and undemocratic. And the Labour party continues to squeeze centuries of progress on civil liberties out of the law. But at least things are getting a little safer and cleaner over there.
Now, if we could only get the rest of the United States to do what New York and California have done ...
