That LA Terrorism Plot: Another Bush Whopper?

As the Washington Post reports:

... But several U.S. intelligence officials played down the relative importance of the alleged plot and attributed the timing of Bush's speech to politics. The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they did not want to publicly criticize the White House, said there is deep disagreement within the intelligence community over the seriousness of the Library Tower scheme and whether it was ever much more than talk.

One intelligence official said nothing has changed to precipitate the release of more information on the case. The official attributed the move to the administration's desire to justify its efforts in the face of criticism of the domestic surveillance program, which has no connection to the incident. ...

Make stuff up to bolster the fraudulent image that this administration has made us safer? Imagine!

Release information that has been reported before but pretend this is major news? Who would imagine such a thing?

Let's be clear: The goal of terrorism is to generate terror, panic, overreaction. Why is W helping the terrorists? If the terrorists "hate us for our freedom" (and not, somehow, for our decades-long support of corrupt secular dictators like the Saud family, Mubarak, and Saddam Hussein), then why are we so willing to let them take away our freedoms without a fight?

I don't get it.

Comments

As a long time resident of LA and a native So Cal gal, all I can say is that I'm just thanking the Elvis that that plane was heading for a building that doesn't even exist. Yay!

Very suspicious, though, that all of this wonderful information was kept from EVERYONE until now. That's odd, even in LA.

PS. By the way, did you know Prince could play the guitar like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nOtQzPCqvE Yikes!
