We Voted. Now Back to Work

We went down to our polling place (our building lobby) at 6 a.m. to find about 50 people already in line. Everybody was giddy with excitement. We might live in the most liberal precinct in America. But optimism is not pervasive among liberals these days. Today, we were all buzzing with optimism.

The poll workers were foggy, unsure of what they were doing, and incapable of answering basic questions from voters. I fear what's going on in other precincts.

About 30 minutes later we got to cast our votes on these stupid, poorly built voting machines that we use in New York. I just hope our votes count. In New York, you never know.

Melissa will be busy curing cancer today. I will be calling voters in swing states from a union hall. Then we will celebrate at night.

This whole campaing has been an amazing, inspiring experience.

We are saving democracy.

I have never been prouder to be an American.
