The Coronation Proceeds Apace
Many love letters to Supreme Court nominee Alito this morning, touting his stunning intellect, excellent experience and wonderful personality. See e.g. the NYT, Is That Legal, US News, Blue Mass. Group, and various segments on NPR, to name just a few.
So, after thirty plus years of real control over whether or not we bear children, this is how it all ends - with a man so many consider smart and nice, who thinks that biology is destiny for women (e.g. believing that women are not unfairly disadvantaged in the workplace by the unavailability of family medical leave), but not for men (who ought to have at least notice if their wives want to obtain abortions), unless of course they carry HIV (supports the “right” of employers to fire HIV-positive workers).
